MARYLAND BUTTONS

Maryland Buttons: I have been asked several times about the Marylanders buttons and if they had a maker making them in the South during war. It is true that many Marylanders served in pre-war militia and brought state buttons, plates, etc with them to the Confederacy. The question was did Marylanders have a supplier for these items in the South (Confederacy). We know that some of their rectangle belt plates were made in the South during war by the method of Sand Casting. But buttons…let the articles speak for themselves.
